Red Katana (also known as Akai Katana) is a side-scrolling bullet hell shoot-em-up from Cave. Up to 2 players can play simultaneously.
Gameplay wise you take control of a ship piloted by a pair of characters, with each character having unique attack patterns. The game is set in a hardline military world where mechs, styled like 1950s retro military machinery, are primary weapons.
The style of the game is said to be a mix between Deathsmiles and Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu.
